It’s been a week today since one of the classiest, elegant and creative lady, master of Raqs Sharqi, Amara Al Amir, shared her knowledge with us during the Egyptian cane and veil workshops in Greenville, SC. Amara’s instruction was rich and authentic. It was what I would call “the real deal”.  I’, sure that all of you that participated in her workshops and / or saw here dance at the Hafla felt that Amara brought the artistic interpretation, projection of feelings, technique and variety of moves to a level that we all only dream about now.  I would like to thank Amara for wonderfully thought workshops.  The way the Cane and the Veil Orientale to Oum Kalthoum’s “Ana Fi Intizarek” were structured exposed us to a large variety of moves and expressions.  Amara did an amazing job teaching us full length choreographies each day incorporating technique of some moves easily forgotten by today’s dancers. Thank you again. You brought more joy this weekend that I can tell you in plain English. You filled out my house with positive energies and women power...Layla Layali, Greenville SC

"The workshop was a lot of fun, and I learned many new steps and combinations. Amara displays so much excitement and love for the dance, and it really inspires and motivates participants.  I also like the way Amara begins her workshops with some discussion around the background and history of the dance.  It helps me to understand the dance more and the emotion I should project as I perform. The choreography from this workshop was incorporated into a performance piece for Tapestry Dance Theatre...Karsilama Workshop w/skirt and tamborine...Sherri Briit Raleigh, NC Photos
I just wanted to thank you again for everything you have done for me.  I am so glad we met a while back....we were supposed to meet.  I pray that you are a life long friend of mine.  I love you and respect you beyond belief!  I just had to tell you I love you very much! Thanks to all of the girls who came out to take the veil workshop with Amara Al Amir that I hosted yesterday! We had the best time and worked very hard too! We learned a whole routine using unique double veil work! The girls are begging for a double cane in the summer! Just wanted to share these pics with all of my sisters in dance! .MAYSAMEH of Rythmic Essence.

This was my first workshop and I am really impressed with the amount of information I came home with.Amara Al Amir is very strong and confident with a deep desire to share her skills and encourage you to build on your own.  I came home exhausted~but I had the best time!! I would encourage you to do one of her workshops~it will leave you feeling really good about being a belly dancer! Thank you so much Amara!...Saphire Blue.

Very useful information - “PURE Gold” as I like to say. Organized very well, nice location, I left exhausted but happy and inspired to take things to the next level:…Haala

I really enjoyed your workshop very much!  I loved the dance!  I can't wait to get the video!  What I liked is that you gave handouts, that you offer the video of the workshop and your actual performance of it along with your talking,  and that you brought a joyful fun spirit to the afternoon.  I liked your choice of music and your interpretation.  I also liked that your class was small and intimate enough. It was nice to have a range of background and levels of dance experience represented in your students and in your class.  The material was really great and useful!...Levanah, New York City (Kasilama w/Tambourine to 9/8 Workshop)
My daughter and I attended the Zills workshop in Mooresville this past weekend. I just wanted you to know that we really enjoyed it !!! I have always wanted to be a belly dancer and my daughter does as well !!! Thank you so much!!!...Anglea Windley and daughter, Virginia Windley
As a new dancer I was a bit nervous and intimidated about attending a workshop with a teacher I did not know, especially one of Amara's excellent reputation.   I was warmly welcomed and made to feel "at home" immediately.   Amara was very concerned, accessible for questions, down to earth and made a point to speak to me several times during the day to see how I was faring.   The workshop covered a tremendous amount of material, and I am thrilled to receive a videotape of the whole session so I can reinforce what I learned at home, that is such an excellent bonus to include when giving a workshop!   Amara is a very generous, caring instructor, it is immediately apparent how much she loves her art, and she really wants to share that with her students.   Watching her perform the dance we learned, from beginning to end, at the conclusion of the workshop was a thrill...Janet M. "Thank YOU for a sharing your knowledge and talent with all who attended. Venera & I commented that your approach is conducive to learning. There is no other teacher who would share so much of herself and also provide the attendees with not only choreography notes but also music and most important a video. I can't tell you how many workshops I have taken and forgotten because I don't have a video for reference. Thank you again and I look forward to taking many more of your workshops"....Kathy Shorr, Queens, NY

I really enjoyed it, we so often we forget arms and face so the focus on that was great!. Also, the break down on layered shimmies was really helpful to me”…Megan Freeman

I'm very thankful to have met you, been to your workshop, and have some of your DVDs...Jessica, Sameera Sheerah
